Flux Schnell is the distilled, few-step member of the Flux family. It returns an image in roughly a second for 22 credits, which makes it less a model you choose for a final piece than the one you think out loud with. Twenty Schnell renders cost less than one render on the flagship tiers.
The practical use is prompt discovery. Most failed generations fail on composition or wording, not on model quality, and those failures are far cheaper to find here. Once a prompt reliably produces the framing you want, move it to Flux Dev or Flux Pro for the version you keep.
Distillation costs it fine detail and prompt adherence. Complex multi-subject scenes come back simplified — that is the trade you are making for the price.
